AirCare Pet’s Travel Update, 24.05.20

Our offices fully functional after the Covid lockdown. We are open 8.30AM to 5.00PM weekdays and other times by arrangement. We are experiencing a high level of enquiries and bookings and apologise if you are experiencing any delays for quotations and pet travel advice. We apologise for any inconvenience but we are committed to maintaining  the highest level of health safety standards for the protection of our staff and customers.

Until the country moves out of Level 2 Lockdown visitors to our Auckland Airport site must complete their registration in our visitor log at reception. Social distancing and sanitisation standards must be adhered to. If you or any member of your party are unwell or have been exposed to Covid-19 in the last 14 days, please remain in your vehicle and phone us for instructions.

Domestic pet travel within NZ:

Air Travel: UPDATE.

Pet travel on Air New Zealand domestic flights has re-commenced. Talk to our sales team about your special needs. We are currently flying pets Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. The following additional services are opening shortly in Alert Level 2:

Air New Zealand require all lodgements of pets for travel on their network to be conducted by an approved person. Additionaly all collections from Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch must be carried out by an approved person. There is no public access to the Cargo Terminal at these city airports.

Our quoted fares include the provision of these special Cargo Terminal services.

Services to all main airports are now available on a restricted flight availability.

Check with our sales team for availability to your chosen destination.



There is a huge backlog of pets to be moved around New Zealand. The above flights can only accomodate restricted numbers of pets and bookings may not be available for all services. We suggest you book through our sales office for your preferred date of travel and we will place your order for the first available flight in a priority queue. 

Confirmation of flight bookings are currently being processed by Air NZ 24 hours before flight. We will notify confirmations as soon as we receive them.

Air NZ have amended their price structures during the lockdown and prices quoted prior to 27.04.20 may not be applicable. Contact our office for the latest information.

Road Courier Travel:

Our road Pet Courier service is fully operative during Levels 2 & 3 for services throughout the North Island. We have been approved by the Ministry of Business (MBIE) to conduct this service in full compliance with the Covid-19 safety provisions. This service is conducted by our own staff in our vehicles.

International Pet Travel: UPDATE.

A small number of international flights are entering and leaving NZ. We can now book pets to and from Australia. The selection of flights and the available space on the aircraft is limited. Priority is given to medical equipment and essential supplies.

We are in constant contact with the major airlines for updates and new schedules. 

Pet Boarding:

Our Auckland cat boarding facility is fully functional during Level 3 and beyond. Special drop off and collection procedures are in force, phone us for directions and an appointment time.
